Who We Are

At Walker Family Law we’re dedicated to helping families navigate some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Our head office is in Exeter, but we serve a much wider community including Taunton, Bristol, Weston-Super-Mare, Yeovil, Honiton, Plymouth and Newton Abbot. Our goal is to provide empathetic, expert guidance when our clients need it the most. Our team is made up of incredibly skilled solicitors and legal support professionals who work with a commitment to delivering a compassionate approach to family law.

Fiona Griffin – Head of Divorce & Relationships TeamWhat We Do

We specialise in all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial disputes, child arrangements, and more. We work with an emphasis on Non-Court Dispute Resolution wherever possible. At the heart of what we do is support for individuals and families who are going through difficult times. Our services go beyond basic legal representation. Whether it’s providing emotional reassurance or offering practical solutions, we are here to guide our clients through the legal process while helping them maintain peace of mind.

One of our key services is the Divorce Support Club, designed to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals navigating the emotional and practical challenges of separation. Held once a month, the sessions bring together divorce coach – Claire Macklin, guest speakers from different professions, and our own solicitors to offer guidance on everything from co-parenting to self-care, including how to manage life changes like menopause during divorce. The aim of the Divorce Support Club is to provide emotional support above and beyond the scope of legal representation, to help our clients move forward with confidence.

Why We Do It

Just as every family is different, every case in family law is different. We do what we do because of our passion for helping people rebuild their lives and move forward. We understand how difficult divorce and family disputes can be for everyone involved, and that’s why our approach is always focused on achieving the best and most amicable outcome for our clients, with as little conflict as possible. We aim to find solutions that benefit everyone, and keep disputes out of Court where possible, especially where children are involved.

The Walker Family Law Pledge

We pride ourselves on creating a supportive environment. From the first point of contact our team will always treat our clients politely and with respect. Equally we will always be straightforward and realistic with our clients. We aim above all to give clear advice about our client’s case from the outset, and we update them on a frequent basis. We try to be as responsive as possible and will act on any concerns raised immediately.

Life at Walker Family Law

To offer you a glimpse behind the scenes, here’s what a typical day looks like in our office:

  • Client Consultations: Whether by video conference or in person, we are busy meeting with our clients to give advice and support.
  • Resolution Together: Where suitable we provide a “one couple, using one lawyer” service called Resolution Together – part of our commitment to help couples to navigate towards an agreement as amicably as possible.
  • Mediation / Collaborative Law / Negotiations:  We dedicate time to out-of-court negotiations, working with other parties to resolve disputes in a way that benefits all involved.
  • Court Hearings: We are a team of strong advocates. Where needed we are there to speak for our clients and represent them in Court hearings sometimes at very short notice.
  • Team Meetings: Our individual teams have frequent meetings where they discuss ongoing cases and share updates with one another. We then have a full team meeting once a month where we share general updates across our divorce team, care team, finance team and business development team, as well as celebrating any achievements of the team by awarding someone with team member of the month!

  • Training & Support: We continuously invest in our team’s professional development, with regular training and networking opportunities for all.
  • Lots of coffee!  We provide our team with a weekly fruit basket as well as team members spoiling us from time to time with cake!  We enjoy Frappuccino Friday where the Exeter team have a lunch time treat.  Our well-being committee puts on events including yoga to help us focus on our self-care.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow, our focus is to continue expanding our services to the wider community, creating more accessible family law resources, and further developing initiatives like our Divorce Support Club and Podcast to ensure our clients have the guidance they need through life’s transitions.
